Guest guest
About this " labelling " thread that was gong on a couple of weeks ago... I go by this simple rule, as regards what I eat, and what a vegetarian eats: " Nothing that can come to you " . Fish and chicken can come to you, so whoever eats those is not a vegetarian. He or she is a fully respected human being, as is my omnivorous mother, whom I dearly love, and never discuss this issues with (waste of breath); but I think that calling themselves a vegetarian is misleading and confusing people. They could just say " I avoid red meat " (so many people do, nowadays, for health reasons) or " I don't eat meat, but I do eat fish " , without using the word " vegetarian " . Okay, clams and oysters can't come to you, or can they? Have a doubt there... But they do move on their own, even if they don't make actual steps, LOL! Anyway I found clams, oysters and company (as well as snails, that are the subject of many appreciated dishes in our region), disgusting when I eat meat too so this has never been an ethical problem for me. People here eat clams and oysters raw, they squeeze lemon on them not only for taste but because if they are fresh they will wiggle in their mouths, uck!
