Guest guest
Sure it is. Learning something new doesn't mean I will change my outlook. Never has, never will. Philisophically speaking that is. Guest guest
hmm.. not to interject, but doesnt that actually mean you AREN'T learning? you're just looking at something, then discarding it, knowing full well you weren't going to adopt the idea before you even looked at it. If you learn something; it becomes part of you, and always changes you, little by litte.. to say that you have 'learned' it, but you are unchanged, is a little fallacious. Speaking semantically, of course; words are evil. --- Allison Nations <allyanne2001 wrote: > Sure it is. Learning something new doesn't mean I > will change my outlook. Guest guest
Sure it does. Just because you learn something new doesn't mean it's going to change you or your life. I evolve over time, I don't just change overnight because I learned something new and exciting that day. --- keith graves <sleepingtao wrote: > hmm.. not to interject, but doesnt that actually > mean > you AREN'T learning? you're just looking at > something, > then discarding it, knowing full well you weren't > going to adopt the idea before you even looked at > it. > If you learn something; it becomes part of you, and > always changes you, little by litte.. to say that > you > have 'learned' it, but you are unchanged, is a > little > fallacious. > > Speaking semantically, of course; words are evil. > > > --- Allison Nations <allyanne2001 wrote: > > Sure it is. Guest guest
um... the instant you 'learn' something.. you begin to change, one way or another; their can be no denying that you are no longer the exact person you were before you learned it, and thus you have changed, however minute. If you merely gaze at kowledge, allow it to bounce off a predjudicial wall or denial and move on, then you have not learned anything aside from what the inevitble perceptions of viewing the subject might entail, and certainly not the complex multitude of directions fully imbibing said knowledge may bestow upon you. But, don't listen to me, words are evil. They create duplicity that keeps us from seeing the harmonious whole:) --- Allison Nations <allyanne2001 wrote: > Sure it does. Guest guest
Have no fear, Autumn. A few of the regular posters were in a bit of a political debate amidst the recipes, food ideas, and vegetarian lifestyle discussion that were going on. Day before yesterday I posted 4 recipes. Yesterday, I posted 3 or 4 and several others did as well. I also added ten recipes from our post archives into the files section. We managed to share ideas for superbowl parties, discuss the poor quality of school lunches and how to combat that issue and talked a bit about what we had for dinner. Not much has changed except we are getting quite busy - as in active- and sometimes a bit off topic, but all is well. I caution all to switch their settings to 'digest' version, skip the posts you don't like, and keep your eyes peeled for the posts that contain recipes (I will be sure to title them clearly). I typed up about ten yesterday evening but I will pepper them onto the board nice and slow like. Pour some coffee and enjoy the ride. Have a pleasant aloha friday! ~ P_T ~ The only gift is giving to the poor; / All else is exchange. -Thiruvalluvar, poet (c. 30 BCE) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> , Autumn <ck72198> wrote: > > Huh???? what is all this about ???
