Guest guest
Angel, No need to apologize on my account. I understand what you did and I am in agreement with why you did it, and it didn't bother me unduly. I'm against war period and this one in particular. War is a racket. Why send kids to die for the profit of a few? Our putative leaders are treating it like a game because not one of them has experienced war. They seem to think having read a Tom Clancy novel qualifies them to make decisions, most of which have been laughable and potentially tragic. I think we'll always have war because it's so damned profitable. We needn' t let them have this one, though. They don't care at all about the hardships and death and suffering war causes; they (those who can start or stop wars) care only about profits. The thing to so is take away their profits. Let them know that, if they go ahead with this, we will STOP using oil, boycott plastics, and otherwise refuse to participate in their profit schemes. It's both that simple and that impossible. Guest guest
you know what really chaps my ass about this whole thing is that while some may be against the war for legitimate reasons, a lot of these so called " anti-war " peacenik types are taking it on our armed forces. It's not their fault they're fighting. They're just doing what they're told to/signed up to do in the military in the first place. It's their job & their patriotic duty they swore to fulfill. Kinda like Las Vegas mayor Oscar Goodman. Everyone ragged on him because he defended some high-profile mobsters here during his attorney days. Hey, the guy was just doing what he was paid to do, regardless of how he felt about his clientele. Megan
Guest guest
i can see your point but remember, some of us anti- war " peacenik " types are against all wars period and therefore the armed forces are promising to participate in the very thing we are against. And it IS their fault their fighting, no one made them sign up and needing money is not a legitimate reason for joining the service (unless you need the money so you can pay for your grandmother's brain operation; which i doubt is the case for most soldiers.) dave

I know the cost war visits on the men and women who serve their country in uniform. Let me say this clearly, I oppose the moronic policies of this government in the impending war with Iraq. Hell, the whole world agrees. They can't even finish the war with OBL. It's all about politics, and it's all about oil!!! Don't get me started on this BS. Just 'doing one's job' or 'doing one's duty' is not always an adequate excuse for unethical behaviour.
