Guest guest
all loss is saddening; but it is part of the cycle. don't let tragedy overcome you... let it inspire you to love those you love even more, and forgive those you couldn't yesterday. Last week the chinese government executed a buddhist monk I was involved in a campaign to have released from prison. He and other monk were convicted (in a secret trial) of 'terrorism' (they were both extremely active in the free tibet movement) and sentenced to death. We pushed really hard to get them to release him.. his name was Lobsang Dhondrup, and he was the same age as I'll be in a few months, 28. They shot him in the back of the head and then took his body to harvest the usable organs for wealthy chinese... it's pretty standard practice. His crime was circling petitions to give a small pacifist country it's freedom. I only ever got to see a couple pictures of him but he and the other monk both taught children in tibet, so the pictures were of him surrounded by his class of children. The other monk has had his execution stayed; amnesty international and other human rights groups have been involved in this for a while; which is one of the reasons it was so shocking.. we had in the space of one day over 4000 letters sent to a single authority to get the execution stayed; for weeks I was really hopeful that things were going to work out because he hadn't been executed; I got the news right before leaving for work and it was pretty heavy, to say the least. The thing is, what I wanted to say before I got sidetracked, was that everyone dies, it's part of the cycle. But if you make it worth something, even just love, or freedom, or taking humanity one step further, then it's sad, but not so bad. That's the beauty of humanity; the beauty of being human; in the end, we love more than we hate, and we get along more than we fight. Most of the world, most of the time, isn't fighting each other. Most of the world just wants to love their families and get ahead, and maybe keep exploring that elusive goal- freedom. And anyone who has every truly loved, or has ever truly been loved, can never, ever die. -k- ===== Where is this beauty? I search and search and then find, We are the lotus. Guest guest
I am sorry to hear about the loss of Lobsang Dhondrup. How very sad. I hope the other monk can be saved.
