Hi,

Gee, this rennet discussion/disagreement/something-or-other

certainly is going on to a somewhat great length. It would

seem that there is a lot of confusion on the two terms,

rennin and rennet. I don't know. Honest. Nevertheless

I did find two interesting web pages (well, I thought they

were interesting and I certainly hope they don't increase

the contentiousness.

<http://www.wholefoods.com/healthinfo/rennet.html>

I thought it was a good thing that Whole Foods would

have a web page about this. They have some info about

rennet and rennin there too.

I also found this page:

<http://www.foodreference.com/html/fcheeserennet.html>

about an herb called " Cheese Rennet " . I also thought

that was interesting.

I suppose the web is sort of like statistics. You

can find things on the web (and in statistics) to

prove or disprove any point or opinion you have.

Always good to keep that in mind.

Just one more thing and I apologize if I'm not

quoting this quite right. There was a statement

made that said something to the effect that

the use/intake/whatever of cheese and milk

aided the veal industry. I think that statement

is way too broad of a statement. I think there

are instances where it might be true and I think

there are instances when it is not true. I don't

have any web pages or books or facts to support

my statement on this but I think common sense

might just enter into the picture. If someone

gets milk or cheese from a farmer they know

and they're totally (whatever that is) aware

of the condition of the farm and production on

the farm and there is no killing of young calves

or mistreatment of the calves or cows than I

think you just cannot say that this contributes

to the veal industry. Does that make sense or

am I just out of my mind (always a possibility)?

Be careful, thats the exact same website i used

(wholefoods) for information, which relies on the

Webster's dictionary definition of the term Rennet, so

you may be accused of spreading 'misinformation'...

lol

don't worry though, I don't think DaveO is gonna read

it:D

Thanks, Gary. Your links clearly show " why " there is confusion over these

terms.
