Take at look at the book I recommended earlier. The Peaceful Palate by

Raymond. It has simple but tasty recipes. Robin in NC

I recently bought (Half.com - used - $4.00) 'High-Flavor Low

Fat Vegetarian Cooking' by Steven Raichlen. I'm quite

impressed with it (especially at that price!).

'Laurel's Kitchen' has been a favorite for many, many years,

as have 'Diet for a Small Planet' and 'Recipes for a Small

Planet'.

Lorna Sass's 'Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure' is

invaluable for anyone (vegetarian or otherwise) with a

pressure cooker.

I like the Moosewood cookbooks a whole lot, especially the

later ones.

I have a lot of cookbooks, maybe 75 or so. I enjoy reading

them in the evenings.

Wow, that is a wonderful price. You will have to share some of the

recipes

you've tried and liked from it.... pretty please. :)

I do this too! Maybe we are weird, Pat. *lol*

as long as we're on the subject I can't cook, i can barely make

toast. Does anyone know any very simple cookbooks that don't require

lots of ingredients?

Haven't tried any yet, but one or two of the cheeesecakes

will probably be the first I try.... :) Yes, I'll share

them.

BTW, this is a wonderful time for anyone who wants to buy

used books: the prices are ridiculously low. We're

actually trying to *sell* used books, so it's not good for

us as sellers, but it's sure good for buyers.

If anyone's looking to buy any used books, here's a search

engine that will search the web and find the cheapest ones

for you:

http://www.addall.com/used/

Half.com generally has the lowest prices.

Well, it's a harmless enough weirdness, if so. I consider

cooking and reading about it to be a hobby (plus a

necessity). It's actually useful as hobbies go. :)

Oh good! I love cheesecake. That pumpkin tofu cheesecake you shared a

long

time ago sounded wonderful, too. (FYI to the members:Pat posted it

before

Thanksgiving, but it is in the files in the desserts folder)

OMG, this site is a keeper. Thanks so much. Now I am going shopping!

Yes, I can take being called weird by my husband over reading

cookbooks in

bed. *lol*

To be well informed, one must read quickly a great number of merely

instructive books. To be cultivated, one must read slowly and with a

lingering

appreciation the comparatively few books that have been written by

men who

lived, thought, and felt with style.

It is good. I'm always searching for light (in the sense of

a reasonable amount of fat and a reasonable amount of

calories) desserts that are nevertheless yummy. :)

Did I post the Quadruple Chocolate Mousse Pie here? I don't

think so. I made this last weekend, it was really

WONDERFUL.

I'll post it in a separate post, so it gets its own heading.
