Guest guest
Hello to all, I am a peanut butter-holic and was wondering about soynut butter. For those that have had both how does the taste compare. Any brands in particular you would recommend. I currently buy all natural smooth low fat peanut butter with just salt added. Guest guest
Hi Tina. I have never tried soynut butter, but have used tahini (sesame paste) and tried also macadamia nut butter and almond. If you are a true peanut butter fan, I doubt any other nut butter will compare as well to your taste buds. Each nut butter, I have found, has its own distinct flavor. In a recipe you might be able to get away with substituting, but eaten off a spoon you'd definately know it wasn't PB. Hopefully other members will be able to advise you more on brands to try. ~ PT ~ You are really one note in the Cosmic Music, harmonizing with other notes to form a grand symphony. ~ Vernon Howard ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> , Tina Graybeal < bouledogue.tmg@d...> wrote: > Hello to all, > I am a peanut butter-holic and was wondering about soynut butter. Guest guest
Soynut butter isn't peanut butter, different flavor, but I happen to love it even more than peanut. I have this jar right now though, Wonder brand with a red label. Ick, TOOOOO sweet! It has corn syrup solids and 3 grams sugar per two tablespoons. Next time I'll read the label more carefully since I prefer a more natural, unsweetened taste. Also, both brands that I have tried come with the oil is floating on top. I believe this is to be expected but I do manage to make quite a mess stirring it up. From now on I'm going to dump it all in a bowl for stirring rather than splash oil around. Anyone else have opinions on oil spearation or tips for stirring nut butters? I take a knife and slowly " fold " the oil in, pulling the knife from the bottom and folding over the top. The labels says if refrigerated it will seperate less after being stirred. But this makes the peanut butter to stiff. Tina bouledogue.tmg

I stir the oil into the peanut butter when I first open it, then I keep it - in the fridge - tightly capped and UPSIDE DOWN. No more problem. Guest guest
my husband and i also buy natural peanut butter, that has a lot of oil seperation. we also find it a pain to mix the oil in, especially since we find it will again seperate a bit. what we do it pour the excess oil off the top into a seperate jar, and then keep that oil in the refridgerator. then we add it back in to the peanut butter when it is needed. michelle Mail Plus - Powerful. Guest guest
That's a great idea. I am going to do that now. My tahini will get especially stiff toward the bottom because no matter how hard i try to stir it smooth, the very bottom always gets short-changed on the oil. ~ feral ~ Any fool can make a rule, And every fool will mind it. ~Henry David Thoreau, naturalist and author (1817-1862) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> , ~michelle~ < goldfish_cracker_addict> wrote: > my husband and i also buy natural peanut butter, that > has a lot of oil seperation. we also find it a pain > to mix the oil in, especially since we find it will > again seperate a bit. what we do it pour the excess > oil off the top into a seperate jar, and then keep > that oil in the refridgerator. then we add it back in > to the peanut butter when it is needed. > > michelle
