Guest guest
Hello, I could use some help finding a recipe. " British Cheese Loaf " , Anyone got any suggestions? My daughter asked me to find a recipe for this, it sounds like maybe it is a hunter's loaf type of thing, you know where you take a loaf of french bread hallow it out and fill it with sauted veggies, put the lid back on it wrap it in paper, weigh it down for an hour, then toast it. I would like to be able to make her requested " British Cheese Loaf " so if anyone can help. Thank You. Vale ===== We live by encouragement and die without it---slowly, sadly and angrily. Guest guest
Sounds very yummy and vaguely like something I saw the two fat ladies make on one of their cooking shows a while back. Hm. I wish I could help you by having a recipe for this. I will do some searching and see what I can find. ~ PT~ The trees that are slow to grow bear the best fruit. -Moliere, actor and playwright (1622-1673) ~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> , banazir2002 < banazir2002> wrote: > Hello, I could use some help finding a recipe. > " British Cheese Loaf " , Anyone got any suggestions? Here is a wonderful British recipe website (non-vegetarian, but of course many of the recipes are vegetarian), maybe it will be listed there: http://www.hwatson.force9.co.uk/cookbook/recipes.htm Otherwise, I suggest Googling on " British Cheese Loaf " (with the quotation marks). Guest guest
This is the closest I came up with. This recipe is not British (listed as Northern Ireland) and not vegetarian. However, it might be good for direction. It's the closest thing I could find as far as your description is concerned. Hope it helps. If not, 2 good search engines are www.google.com and www.dogpile.com Cheers, Shawn http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/ Northern Ireland Picnic Loaf Serves 8 Ingredients 2 cob loaves, top cut off and hollowed out butter or low fat spread 8 lettuce leaves 20 thin slices cucumber 250g/8oz smoked ham, sliced 90ml/6tbsp sweet gherkins, sliced 60ml/4tbsp sweetcorn relish 4 cooked chicken breasts, skinned and sliced 60ml/4tbsp coleslaw 1 red pepper, seeded and sliced Method: 1.
