Guest guest
We don't have but two and half rooms that are carpeted.... wonder if there is a mixture you could mop with or use on hardwood and tile floors? Ideas anyone? What about something to use on the dogs and cats? Robin in NC
Guest guest
Actually, in all truthfulness I am a former schooled groomer. It's been about 10 years since I've been in the field. There use to be a product line called Halo that was fairly good and all natural. I used it in my shop. Unless the animals came in just covered in vermin or had other skin issues, I used all natural products as much as possible. There was also another good product Thera something I think. I'll have to check and see if I have the name somewhere. What is very good for carpets, rugs, pet bedding is Pennyroyal. I've done the garlic and the yeast with not much success. It can't hurt so it's worth a try. I've yet to find many options to mop with or use on hard surfaced floors. I was hoping there was something I wasn't aware of or hadn't heard of. Always open to new ideas. Robin in NC
Guest guest
Now if only I could get my cats to cook.... Here is a recipe that Anna sent to me a while back. I forgot to get it posted here: flea spray mix 1/4 tsp of eucalytus oil and i cup of water, mix and place in a water bottle spritzer. shake and spray house and floor, animal bedding etc.. Note: you can also use wintergreen oil. I alsoÊ mix the wintergreen oil with a cup of baking soda and mix and sprinkle on the floor and wait 20 minutes then vaccum up, freshens hous and also kills the nasty fleas. ~ PT ~ One can make a day of any size and regulate the rising and setting of his own sun and the brightness of its shining. ~ John Muir
Guest guest
Good questions. I used to have a recipe to use on the cats made from an herbal blend. I can't remember where I got it or what I did with it. I know it only worked so-so. 1. I still had to use the flea stuff from the vets monthly, but this helped to keep the rogue flea from jumping on them while they were outside. I will see if I can find it.... 2. Not easy by any means known to man to spray a cat! I also heard that sprinkling a bit of nutri-yeast on an animal's food helps them give off a scent fleas don't like. Not sure. :::shrugs::: Anyone? ~ PT ~ When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world. ~ John Muir, naturalist, explorer, and writer (1838-1914) ~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> , rwhitt1212@a... wrote: > We don't have but two and half rooms that are carpeted.... wonder if there is > a mixture you could mop with or use on hardwood and tile floors? > Ideas anyone? Guest guest
OOPS! I just realised my posts are going to the individuals, and not the list! here is a resend............. - Lavendar..............works like a charm. just add a little bit to the shampoo, or buy lavendar liquid soap...[i use Dr Bronner's, you have to dilute it tho~for any use] I am new here, by the way. ;~) My name is Pixxley. I have been an off-again-on-again vegetarian/vegan for 20 years. Pixx On 12 Feb 2003 at 17:45, rwhitt1212 wrote: > What about something to use on the dogs and > cats? Guest guest
Another resend........ - Sprinkling powdered garlic works...........not granulated! ~they usually wont like the strong taste........but powdered. look in ethnic stores for it. Animals love it, bugs hate it. My dog would look at me like I was insane when I forgot to add it!! Actually, even people who consume garlic on a regular basis are less likely to be bothered by mosquitoes, as well. Guest guest
All three of the cats who've been sent to share portions of my life have shown an attraction towards spaghetti/dipping sauce which contain(ed) garlic. (Other cats owners I've spoken with mention a cat attracted to garlic.) It's also supposed to be an antibiotic/antibacterial/antioxidant that aids digestion for them, so if it also repels fleas, more's the better? Please be VERY careful using essential oils around your pets, and around cats in particular. Many are extremely toxic. Aromatherapy is wonderful, but its not appropriate in all situations. Please see http://www.thelavendercat.com/ for more information about the effects of EO’s on your cat (and other interesting information about aromatherapy and essential oils) From their website: Most people are aware of warnings that focus on the topical and oral administration of essential oils, but they are generally unaware that inhalation of essential oils can also be unsafe for your cat. Oils can affect a cat by absorption and inhalation just like for humans, and precautions should be used when repeatedly diffusing essential oils, since the development of liver damage can be a slow process without any visible symptoms. -- Sherri " You don't appreciate a lot of stuff in school until you get older. Guest guest
Yeah, I have noticed that, too Pixx and Lois. My cats are always hanging around the dinner table when garlic bread is served! *lol* I will have to start sprinkling a bit of garlic dust on their food. Maybe on the dog's food as well. ~ PT ~ Music was my refuge.
