Guest guest
You know, I have never had jasmine rice before. The name just made it not appeal to me. I don't think I would enjoy rice that tasted like it was stirred with an incense stick. *lol* Not sure if that is how it is in reality, but that is what comes to my mind when I think of how it might taste. I do love basmati rice though, so when folks put up recipes that call for jasmine I just use that or even brown rice. I hope you are enjoying the snow. The only thing I didn't like about it when I lived back in NY is the driving and shoveling out. Loved to be able to just strap on the cross country skis though and take off out into the woods alone. Enjoy the winter wonderland. :::coffeemug salute::: ~ PT ~ Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime. ~ Ernest Hemingway ~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~> , " artichoke72x " < artichoke72x> wrote: > it's been snowing all day here in northern virginia, > expecting much more tomorrow..they say 10 - 14 inches! > i've never seen that much snow before...being from > texas. i'm sure it will be pretty. > > hope everyone is having a nice weekend. > > susie
Guest guest
LOL!!! If you have ever had 'chinese takeout' you have had jasmine rice. It has a slightly chewier & less dry texture than that of basmati. Pixx On 16 Feb 2003 at 16:26, ~ P_T ~ patchouli_troll@ wrote: > You know, I have never had jasmine rice before. I guess I don't like it much then since I have been making my own rice when I order take out chinese takeout food. *lol* Learn something new here every day. Guest guest
No I wouldn't, unless it wasn't cooked properly! I find basmati rice to resemble 'Minute Rice'......something akin to being freeze dried. Guest guest
Cooking will vary from location to location...I myself have gone to some establishments where I wouldn't eat the rice there, either! LOL. But if you have gone to several, and didn't care for any of them.......well, pity! ;~) LOL! I buy jasmine by the 25lb bag. Wrongfully assuming that I would like basmati, I bought such a bag.........ah, well. If it wouldn't cost so much in postage, I would consider mailing it to you!!! LOL! By the way~ rice makes a wonderful 'heating pad'. Just fill a long sock with rice, knot or sew the end! To use it simply heat in microwave for a few minutes. Works really well! Also works in the freezer for a cold compress..........but takes hours, not minutes! Good to keep one there, to be ready when needed. Guest guest
A rice steamer works the best, and *oh so* much easier than stovetop. If you have a 'double boiler' the concept seems, to me at least, to be similar..........maybe that would help [?] Pixx On 16 Feb 2003 at 9:41, artichoke72x wrote: > that's exactly why i don't like jasmine rice, every > time i make it...it turns out a big mess! lol! of > course, it may just be me. cooking rice is not my > forte! it tastes fine tho. > > susie > > --- jimi 45 <jimi45_skin wrote: > > > > if by " less dry " you mean gooey mess.... > > ;-P > > > > -jimi *purist* > > > > Pixx <lists wrote:LOL!!!
