Guest guest
It could be a hand-made mix in your own plastic bag that might in fact be Vegan, non? All I meant was, send her what ingredients she's curious about or unfamiliar with. Guest guest
Go for it *lol* .... feel free. I have no clue how one would go about making a vegan cheesecake boxed mix, but if you do, wonderful. ~ PT ~ The future belongs to people who see possibilities before they become obvious. ~ Ted Levitt ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~> , The Stewarts <stews9@c...> wrote: > It could be a hand-made mix in your own plastic bag that might in fact be > Vegan, non? > > All I meant was, send her what ingredients she's curious about or > unfamiliar with. > > On Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at 07:54 AM, > wrote: > > > Re: Cheese Cake Care Package > > > > Being how Lisa is vegan, I doubt she'd much appreciate > > the cheesecake mix. Guest guest
Forgive me, but I am confused by this........it is my understanding that cream cheese, being a dairy product, is not vegan.............am I wrong?? Guest guest
You aren't confused. You are correct. Though I understand there are now vegan forms of cream cheese and some recipes for dessert cheesecakes that are vegan using silken tofu. However, this Jello brand box mix would be beyond my ability to veganize since it is a sort of powder dry mix in a box that one adds milk to to make a cheesecake-like dessert product. Sorry for the confusion. Nope you are right Pixx, dairy cream cheese (being, well dairy) is not vegan. However there are several soy cream cheeses out there that work brilliantly in a standard cheesecake recipe that are vegan. Guest guest
this is news for me! I am allergic to soy milk.......so I use almond in aseptic package [on the shelf] so I rarely go to the section that would have 'dairy substitutes' while in my local health food shop. I dont have problems with tofu [go figure], so maybe I'll do ok with the 'cream cheese'. thanks for the info!!
