Guest guest
Holly, We find them at our chain-mainstream grocery store canned in adobo sauce in the ethnic/Mexican food section, I think. Yes, they are spicy. They are smoked Jalapenos. We use them with great success in home made BBQ sauce. HTH, Jude
Guest guest
Where does a person find these peppers? I tried Whole Foods -- but maybe I was looking in the wrong section? Are they spicy? vital to the dish's success? TIA, Holly
Guest guest
I live in Arizona, so canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce are easy to find at any supermarket. If you live in other parts of the country, try the ethnic foods section of your grocery. Posole is popular New Mexican dish and chipotle peppers give it its characteristic flavor and spiceness... I recommend trying to find them if you'd like to make this dish, but be warned that it is spicey! Best, Rhonda
Guest guest
I'll keep looking -- striking out in the ethnic section -- maybe it's because I'm on the east coast? I have several recipies to try that include these . . . . Thanks, Holly

Some of them have whole dried/smoked jalapenos (chipotle) wherever they keep dried peppers. Even Whole Foods carries both varieties in their chips/dips/refried beans section, along with other canned and dried peppers. ygg
Guest guest
Holly, If all else fails, here's an online source for dried chipotles: http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/chipotle.htm Scroll down to " where to buy " . You also might look for the new Tabasco chipotle sauce. It should be on the shelf near the regular Tabasco. I still like actual chipotles better, but the sauce is quite good. j. , " Holly/cellomusic4 " <hlh@a...> wrote: > [can't find chipotles] > maybe it's > because I'm on the east coast?
