Guest guest
You can heat this on the stove to mix it well and when hot toss in the crockpot for 2 hrs or so and let it simmer away. This is really good on anything you grill and brushed across veggie burgers and roasted veggies near the end of cooking time. Brad Spicy Homemade BBQ Sauce (makes about 1-1/2 cups) Mix together in a small (1-1/2 quart) saucepan: 3/4 cup catsup 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce (veg version) 1/2 cup water (1/3 cup water if using the crockpot instead of stove) 6 Tbsp red wine vinegar 1 Tbsp brown sugar 1 small bay leaf Mix together in a small bowl (blend well): 1 tsp dried oregano 1 Tbsp paprika 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp (heaping) chili powder or more if you want 1/2 tsp ground cloves 1 tsp cracked black pepper 2 Tbsp whole mustard seeds 2 tsp Spice Islands hickory smoked salt 2 Tbsp onion powder (if you don't find the smoked salt then use a little liquid smoke and 2 tsps. regular salt) Add dry ingredients to liquids and mix well. Bring mixture to a boil, then simmer 1/2 hour. Covered it, it splatters if you don't cover it but if you don't mind cleaning up your stove the sauce thickens up more if it's uncovered. Guest guest
Yummola! This sounds great. I love the idea to let this simmer in my crock pot. I love to brush BBQ sauce on my veggie burgers, veggies, and vegdawgs when I am grillin' outdoors. Homemade BBQ sauces are the best. I might add a splash of JD Ol' No. 7! *lol* :::cold brew salute::: ~ PT ~ , Brad <surfboard_bedboard wrote: > > You can heat this on the stove to mix it well and when hot toss in the crockpot for 2 hrs or so and let it simmer away. Guest guest
No anchovies in Wizard's Vegan Worcestershire Sauce: http://www.veganstore.com/vegan-worcestershire-sauce/Page_1/422.html Good stuff, too. Glad to see the list bumping! r , Reni <renireligion wrote: > > does anyone know of a sub for worcestershire? >
Guest guest
Oh yeah! That smoky flavor is so good combined with the sweet fruit. Pineapple chunks and strawberries go great on veggie kabobs with BBQ sauce. Guest guest
If you can't find wizard brand, try finding Kroger brand. Out here in Oregon the Fred Meyer stores carry that and it s veg safe: no anchovies. ~ PT ~ , Reni <renireligion wrote: > > does anyone know of a sub for worcestershire? >

Guest guest
i'll have to look into the Wizard brand. i've considered ordering it online, but i use it so infrequently that i *always* forget to do so. as far as Kroger and Whole Foods, we don't have either in my area. i'll check my local health food market (i'm there really infrequently as i do a good 90% of my shopping in farmer's markets) and Wegman's (how i didn't think to check there yet, i don't know!) thanks! -- HAIKU --- Drag queens are the rea- Son I pluck my eyebrows.
