Just making sure - you do NOT have to soak the beans first? Do you think there

would be any difference if I left it on low for about 8 hours instead of high

for 4-5?

I have been cleaning my beans and adding 6 cups of vegetable stock and/or water

to my beans and I turn my crock pot on high and I leave for work - when I come

home 8 plus hours later, the beans are perfect.  I don't soak them. We have a

brazilian exchange student and he says they're perfect - just like his mom

makes... must be okay, right?

What about using regular brown rice (not instant)?

How would you change the instructions/timing?

Thanks
