When you have made other bread in your machine, has the flour been as much (or more) as 2 1/2 cups? if so, then it should work! that would work out as follows: Ingredients: 1 cup warm water (100 to 110 degrees F.) 1/2 teaspoon diastatic malt 1 tablespoon or 1 package yeast 1 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 teaspoon sea salt 2 1/2 cups whole wheat bread flour (approximately) Let us know how it turns out! Are you making your own malt? or have you found it locally? I am thinking it could probably be found in a beer maker's shop! Guest guest
Hey everyone I'm Mari from Miami, FL. I am fairly new to the vegetarian life style its been about 6months I made the switch for health reasons and it has paid off greatly I've lost 30lbs and feel better than ever. I'm happily married to a steak and potatoes kind of guy but hes pretty open to anything as long as its filling and tasty which hasnt been a problem I've been pretty successful at making things we can both eat. Well for Christmas I got a slow cooker YAY=] I've always wanted one since I got married. I grew up with my mom cooking a lot of meals in the slow cooker but they where all centered around meat. So now I need some good hearty vegetarian meals that are either meant for a slow cooker or that adapt well I also need it to be hearty, my hubby is a meat eater and he doesn't mind all veggie meals as long as they are hearty and filling Thankfully once my mom heard I got a slow cooker she let me borrow a book that has all the basics including how to take non slow cooker recipes and how to adjust them for a slow cooker so I have that covered I just haven't had much luck finding recipes. I've made a minestrone soup and a 3 bean chili that I found on the whole foods website that turned out really good but other than that I haven't found anything for anyone interested here are the links to both of those recipes hearty minestrone(I omitted the savoy cabbage and added spinach instead) http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/recipe.php?recipeId=448 three bean chili ( I swapped the bulgur wheat for brown rice) http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/recipe.php?recipeId=422 Well thanks for your time and help Blessed Be MARI zone 10 www.facebook.com/mari.t.hernandez
Guest guest
Hi, Mari I just started eating vegetarian in December. Actually, I want to be 100% vegan, but it's a transition. However, my biggest thing has been variety and spice. I need both to be successful. So, I've been on a search for recipes. There is a wonderful websiteand blog by Susan Voisin. I've included the link below. I've made some wonderful dishes from her recipes. I made the Vegetarian Enchilada Casserole 2, which is a crockpot recipe. Although the recipes states to only cook it on low for 5 hours and that wasn't nearly long enough. I would suggest 7 to 8 hours or all day if you are away at work. I topped it with salsa, sliced mild jalapeno peppers, and some tofu mock sour cream. It was quite tasty. I had plenty of leftovers and had some over rice with mock sour cream, jalapeno peppers, and veggie cheddar " cheese " . I just bought some cookbooks, and I can tell you one has me very excited. It's called The Vegan Table by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau. It was under $13 at Amazon.com. I will definitely be making some of the recipes from there, including the quesadillas, pizza, and a wonderful looking veggie panini. http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/ Have fun!
