There's such a thing as vegetarian bacon?!

Never heard of it. Who makes it and where does one get it?

Morningstar Farms, but I don't buy that. If all you need is the flavor

of bacon, you can use vegetarian bacon-flavored TVP. If you need strips of

bacon,

then you'd have to consider a commercial product, I guess. I'd

experiment first with seitan to see if I could produce something that

would work.

If you, or anyone you're feeding, is sensitive to MSG or just want to avoid it,

be aware that all (as far as I know) the commonly available meat substitue

products do contain MSG. I know for sure Boca and Morningstar Farms both do.

Quite likely the other flavored TVP products do, also. These are really

processed foods, not that close to natural. (If anyone knows of a brand that

definitely does NOT contain MSG in any of its disguises, please let me know!)

I'm trying to learn to do without the meat flavor myself and appreciate the

natural vegetable ingredients. (Not saying it's easy, but I'm trying).
