There is nothing wrong with it - nor was there anything wrong with your lentil burgers (which sound like they would have been delicious, by the way). It is apx 24 in diameter and is nearly impossible to burn food on it, keeps pizza warm quite awhile too. If you do not like the pan turning black it is an idea, as is stainless steel.
