Guest guest
Hello Pat; To answer your question as to how long have I been vegetarian....... Most of my life I never was all that strong on meat. When I was a child, I had to eat it, because, my parents made me eat it. As I got older, I mainly stuck with with grains and vegetables and fruits. More grains than vegetables and fruits though. Now, I'm the other way around. More vegies and fruits, and fewer grains. I can understand about gaining weight when you're not well. Even though I don't eat all that much, I still gain weight. I don't use dairy products , nor sugar , etc....... I wish I was able to exercise , but, unfortunately the illness that I have, prevents me from being really active. Sooooooo, I do what I can with what mobility I do have left in me. And congratulations on your losing your weight, keep up the good work. I hope your weekend is doing well.... With Love Irene-Marie hugss GOD BLESS!!! P.S. Guest guest
Well, I'm lucky - my mobility has improved somewhat ;=) But it was an injury, and sometimes if one is lucky injuries allow themselves to heal. This morning, however, in absolute spite (I am sure) my knees are objecting to the weather :=( Can't say I blame them - *I* object to the weather this morning, my dh objects to the weather, and my poor little hounds object to the weather. The only member of the household who doesn't mind is the cat, who stays indoors! It's minus 11 celcius. Yes, like you, I am now cutting back on carbs somewhat. I tend to love breads, pastas, rice, quinoa, other grains, as well as lentils (made into dhal) and beans - etc etc. And of course, if you try to eat them all you find that they leave their mark. So I am cutting way back and find that as of this morning I have dropped one kilo / two pounds. Not much, but it'd count if it went on, right? I have also followed Laura's good advice from ages ago and cut wayyyy back on oils. Otherwise I eat just the same, just a matter of proportion. Me, I've never been big on salads and stuff. I do eat a certain amount of uncooked fruit and vegetables, cuz it's good for my health, but my preference is for *hot* food - hot in temperature as well as hot in spices ;=) Anyway, thanks for sharing your story on vegetarianism and health. It's really nice to talk to you ;=) As for my weekend, I am under a pile of address books, stamps, cards, holiday letters, wrapping paper, etc. Not a large pile, mind you, but it still feels like a dump *lol* Bahhhh humbug! Guest guest
Pat, Great to hear that you've shed 2 pounds...congratulations!! Hope you got your holiday cards taken care of. I just got a start on mine today; we send out quite a few, & this is the only time of the year I'm in touch with some of the folks so I like to write a little....needless to say, I've barely made a dent in my pile. We have snow here in Minnesota; have had about 3 inches & it continues to snow gently. It's one of those really pretty snowfalls, where the trees & bushes have a soft white coat. I've been outside to shovel twice today, and it's just perfect out there; things are expected to begin to get quite a bit colder in the next day or two though. Guest guest
Thanks - still plugging away ;=) Got off all cards and all but one gift - and that goes in the mail this morning. Feeling very virtuous, despite the fact that I was planning to have it done by 1st of December ;=) It's silly - I enjoy doing it, and yet I tend to leave it just long enough that it is more a rush and a duty rather than an unmitigated joy. I'm going to try a new system for next year and, if it works, I'll report back with pride and smugness and all those things that really really annoy us all about organized people *lol* Cold here; snow later. Grump. Yours sounds very pretty though - sounds like weather for some warming soups! Guest guest
Oh, I'm envious! Snow here yesterday stopped everything -- schools closed -- everything. It doesn't take much to close things down in this part of the world! I'm getting just a bit anxious, although I really only need to buy for my children. Cara wants one of everything! Ty is rather pensive about the holidays this year, and his birthday (which is Sunday). So it's making it tough to get gifts bought and wrapped! I'm seriously cutting down on the number of cards, so that helps, although I just took another round of photos, and am hoping these work out. Then it's off to cook Lebanese food for the traditional Christmas Eve meal -- and I've yet to come up with satisfactory vegetarian alternatives. sigh ... Paula J. Hmmmmm. Alternatives to what, exactly? (I don't know - and would like to - what would be a trad Xmas Eve meal). Maybe some of us have ideas - or at least, maybe we'd like to share your misery ;=) Anyway, good luck!
