Guest guest
I second that request for information. I always thought " marrow " was the red bloody stuff in bones, which would seem not to be vegetarian. >BabyAndChive > > >Re: Marrow >Fri, 8 Sep 2000 14:25:10 EDT > >Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I keep hearing about marrow and have no >idea >what it is! :-) Could someone please tell me? Guest guest
Just looked it up at dictionary.com ... Marrow squash (Bot.), a name given to several varieties of squash, esp. to the Boston marrow, an ovoid fruit, pointed at both ends, and with reddish yellow flesh, and to the vegetable marrow, a variety of an ovoid form, and having a soft texture and fine grain resembling marrow. >BabyAndChive > > >Re: Marrow >Fri, 8 Sep 2000 14:25:10 EDT > >Sorry if this sounds stupid, but I keep hearing about marrow and have no >idea >what it is! :-) Could someone please tell me? Guest guest
According to my friends from England, " marrow " is a cucumber-like vegetable that is eaten cooked rather than raw. They say they've not seen the in U.S. supermarkets. I occasionally see long cucumber-like things in the produce department, but I don't know whether they'd substitute or not.
