Guest guest
Aphrodite, I'm in Greensboro, North Carolina. It's part of the " Piedmont Triad " . High Point and Winston-Salem are the other two major towns. Hmmm, did you visit the Chapel Hill area or Asheville? Those parts are more friendly to vegetarians. Here in this part of the state the four major food groups are pork shoulder, boston butt, pork rinds and beer. Since I'm an entertainment reporter I have to dash around to all sorts of pig pickings. Prime example, I had to kiss up and cover a police barbecue last week. I won't go into the details of what was served. Anyway, these folks almost tried to force feed me...almost taking offense because I didn't suckle the swine. The Lexington, NC BBQ festival is coming up this week. Yikes! Guest guest
oh! you poor dear! yeah, you got me, i have mostly been to ashville, also to raleigh/durham area. i found the laughing seed in ashville, as well as lots of great little veggie and ethnic diners there. and in raleigh it was the same deal, everyone was veg friendly. i can COMPLETELY relate to you though. i used to live in lexington, SC, and that was hell. NO veg food, and everyone thought i was crazy for not eating meat. hence my amazing cooking skills now! LOL. so i used to drive 45 minutes to town to cook in a small macrobiotic natural food shop, and i would eat at the basil pot. when i was leaving the town (columbia) was becoming much more veg friendly due to more college students. are you near a campus at all? laurie - <rashunda Monday, October 23, 2000 12:50 AM Re: North Carolina cuisine-Aphrodite:-) > Aphrodite, > I'm in Greensboro, North Carolina.
