Guest guest
Ok...I learned this from a 1/2 hawaiian 1/2 japanese guy when I lived in Hawaii.... its a GREAT appetiser...and my non-tofu eating, but Japanese food lovers love it....or at least the adventurous... Ok start with making a sauce with Soy sauce (good stuff...Please!) mixed with wasabi....I don't have the exact measurements....by consistency (should be a thin sauce) and by strenghth....remember we're dealing with STRONG horseradish! may need to add a little water... once the sauce has been made put a plate over the cup or bowl...this will strenthen the wasabi. Get a 1lb. of VERY firm tofu. cut in 1 1/2 in CUBES. place this on a small serving dish or plate. Grate FRESH ginger and place on top of the Tofu. Now sprinkle FURIKAKE on the tofu. Pour the sauce on top of the tofu....the tofu should be sitting in a pool of the sauce.. (note: FURIKAKE is shredded seaweed, with white & black sesame seeds, with a little salt (i think?) It's called Rice seasoning....you'll find in a great asian food market or in Hawaii...) It sounds weird but it can be addictive...total cost only couple of dollars...and for your hip friends...they will LOVE it! try it and let me know what you think! Guest guest
Thanks! It sounds wonderful! I bet it can get HOT if you put enough wasabi! Thanks again and I will look for the furikake at my hfs next time! Thanks!
