Guest guest
Someone has suggested the possibility of needing iron as a reason for craving meat. If it's the taste you miss, well, here's good news. Those clever folks at GardenBurger have come up with a flame-broiled " burger " that tastes so much like well-done hamburger it could have fooled me if I hadn't been the person who opened the package and knew what it is. Guest guest
Personally, I believe that food is addictive..especially unhealthy foods. Meat contains so many steroids/hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, and I have even read that in itself it is a stimulant (have not been able to locate which one so I take that with a grain of salt) that it does not surprise me that people would become addicted to it....either psychologically or physically or both. Consuming the flesh of animals is as unhealthy as being addicted to nicotine...and it is as equally as hard to kick. JMO, ~~G PS--If you think you are craving iron try eating an avocado (which has the easiest absorbed dietary Fe in the non-heme family) or fortified cereal, spinach, dried beans, or blackstrap molasses with an orange, grapfruit or other " good " source of vitamin C. COnsuming ascorbic acid with non-heme iron increases your absorbtion of it without all of the nasty carcinogenic and artery-clogging side- effects of comsuming hem-iron. , Lauranz of Cyberia <Laurance@j...> wrote: > Someone has suggested the possibility of needing iron as a reason for > craving meat. > > If it's the taste you miss, well, here's good news. Guest guest
Hey, the other thing you can do if you're craving meat, is have a veggie burger from East Side Marios, Harveys (/Swiss Chalet), or I think a Kelseys chain restaurant. I'm not sure if they're cooked entirely on a different grill, you could ask, but I've almost sent them back convinced they we meat. They weren't.
