Guest guest
Hi there. You know, sometimes I love a sandwich. But, the vegan bread I have found, though yummy, rings in at about $3.29 a loaf, which is a bit steep for me. Any suggestions on what to serve my peanut butter with? Veggie patties? Chik patties? Soy deli slices? I am a busy girl, so these convenience foods really come in handy, but the bread is beginning to make a dent in my food budget and I haven't found a cheap bread or roll alternative. I'm desperate! Anyone else on the list cooking for one? I have lots of great recipe books, and the suggestions on here are great, but I always have found it difficult to cook just for myself because most recipes seemed to be geared towards three or four servings. I hate leftovers, so I think I rely on convenience foods because that gives me just enough food. Any single chefs have helpful hints? steph _____ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html
Guest guest
hey steph, what about making your own bread or rolls? or one thing i find quick and pretty inexpensive is tortillas, whidh you can make yourself, or buy. also, there is the new flatbread, it is like 6 or 8 to a bag for about $2, vegan, and whole wheat.... - " S. Guest guest
I'm quite sure I posted a pizza dough recipe last month that is vegan. you can substitute another form of sweetener than granulated sugar to start the yeast. it only takes 10 min to make in the food processor, and 20 minutes to bake. Check the archives, or LMK if you can't find it. Thick and Chewy Pizza dough. Lots of other dough recipes were posted, too. You might like one of those. Much cheaper than $3/loaf!
