Did you all know that Democratic Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich from

Ohio is a vegan???

From his website www.kucinich.us :

" He not only believes in sustainability, he practices it. Congressman Kucinich

is one of the few vegans in Congress, a dietary decision he credits not only

with improving his health, but in deepening his belief in the sacredness of all

species. In the 106th Congress, his call for

labeling and safety testing of all genetically engineered foods provoked a $50

million advertising campaign by the biotech industry. "

You can also read about his stances on various issues on his website.

I couldn't imagine a vegan/vegetarian president!

No problem, Pat! I totally understand. When I hear of Atkins or South Beach, I go "ew" inside, too. I am just bringing it up because it will help us dispel some of the myths that one has to eat meat to stay slim!

For example, I just read that Drew Barrymore is eating meat now. She is proud of it and says that her veggie diet was too "carbohydrate rich" that made her fat. I'd like to be able to counter that claim saying that one can eat lower carbohydrates without upping one's glycemic index on a vegan diet. How can we unless we speak their language and address their concerns? We can't until we learn about them.

I don't like guessing others intentions but I also read in another article that she stopped being veg because she "just didn't' want to limit herself anymore". If that is the case, well, she has her right...I just didn't want her to blame her diet change on health reasons when it was really because she just wanted to eat meat again.

Oh, by the way, the other day I had vegan sushi....how rare is that? It was fantastic!
