Guest guest
You can use 1 tsp soy flour (or wheat flour) with 2 TBSP water mixed together for an egg while baking. In case you can't find the replacement mix. It should be cheaper, too. Jo
Guest guest
Hi, I have been looking for commercial egg replacers in several stores but have not found anything. I don't know if these stores just don't carry them, or if I'm looking in the wrong place? Do any of you know what section they would likely be in at the store? Thanks! Guest guest
I use Ener-G egg replacer. I've seen it at the health-food stores but I usually order from a catalog. I don't know if it would be used commercially... Guest guest
Hi! I use a product by Fleischmann's called " Egg Beaters " . I haven't bought it in a while, but I seem to remember it being in the section with eggs and milk. I think I got it at Safeway or Save-on-Foods. It's quite handy because it can also be frozen if you don't use the entire carton. (comes in a small carton like milk). Guest guest
Sure, it's the Mail Order Catalog for Healthy Eating. 1-800-695-2241. It's great. I get the egg replacer (its a powder you add water to) and all my TVP from there. This catalog also has all the Worthington Foods and Loma Linda products. They even have vegetarian gelatin. I personally could never eat even a vegetarian gelatin. My husband loves the 'Burger 'n loaf' but it's $3.49 and it takes 2 boxes to make 1 meatloaf. Too expensive. Does anyone have a good recipe for meatloaf? Guest guest
Hi, We use a product that is Ener-G Foods. They have a web site: www.ener-g.com and also a toll free number 1 800-331-5222 I use this for everything that calls for eggs in any recipe. Doesn't work to good for making omelets. This product uses nothing derived from eggs and is essentially potato starch, tapioca flower and a few other things. Got it at a health food store (of course), but I suspect you might be able to order on-line if a store nearby doesn't carry it (encourage those stores to do so!). Good Luck Audrey Blumeneau (Santa Cruz, CA.) Guest guest
THANK YOU!!!!! I really appreciate it... are the other things fairly inexpensive?? I'll call and get a catalog ..thanks again! Guest guest
It depends. Some things you can get at a health food store but if they don't carry it then you're pretty much stuck with paying the catalog prices. I don't know where you live but in New Jersey even Shop-Rite carries a lot of vegetarian options like vegan cheese and deli slices and already made meatballs. Some even have breaded chicken breasts that are great. Because of this, I don't buy too much from the catalog. The TVP is very inexpensive if you use that. I love using the granules for a meat tomato sauce or for chili. Not a big fan of the chunks but the strips we use to make peppers and onion sandwiches or cheesesteaks. Get the catalog and let me know if you have any questions on the products and I'll tell you if I've tried it. Guest guest
Sorry, I didn't realize that you didn't want something with eggs in it, I just thought you wanted a product you could use instead of an actual egg. I use it in recipes that call for egg whites because otherwise I end up with a bunch of yolks lying around. I guess I'm a little out of place since I'm not a vegan; my husband is a vegetarian so when I cook, I cook to suit him. Guest guest
The first thing to do - is find out exactly what you're looking for - then - ask in what ever store you shop - if they stock it. They may special order it for you - or begin to carry it as a convenience for all. Here are two brands that come to mind: Eggs-traordinary and Egg-Free Can, sometimes, use arrow starch or potato starch. Be careful when using in recipes - they don't always work as equal substitutes. There is a wealth of info on the net. Here's a page of starters for info: http://www.google.com/search?q=commercial+egg+replacers & btnG=Google+Search Good luck ! A. ;-) Christy Clement wrote: > > Hi, I have been looking for commercial egg replacers in several stores > but have not found anything.
