Guest guest
Please please don't do this, I am an instructor for the American Red Cross, The MOST important thing you can do when having a heart attack is CALL 911. Don't wait, don't try cpr on your, self seek professional help. If you are concerned about heart attacks go to a local organization, (ie fire dept, hospital, red cross) and learn cpr. CPR only circulates blood through the body until the heart starts again. In a heart attack if the person is still conscious obviously they are still circulating blood. cpr will not work on a person whose heart is still beating. Also the majority of heart attack victims do not faint many even deny they are having a heart attack. This article is more than likely refering to sudden cardiac arrest where the heart's electrical activity goes haywire. With sudden cardiac arrest the person passes out without warning. The only thing that will help victims of this is defibrillation. The red cross and many other organizations are teaching how to use a defribillator. Please take a class and learn the proper way to save a life. sarah HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE. Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, this article seemed order. Without help, the person who heart stops beating properly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. Guest guest
I agree & I'm not a medical person or anything related, but heart attacks run in my family & I know CPR. You can also read the instructions for CPR on several web sites. The last I heard that advice was an Urban Legend but I'm not sure. Everyone should have a cell phone.
