Guest guest
OK, I've been listening to all this and I am finally going to put in my .02 1) No 2 people are completely alike, nor think alike. Every person has a right to their own opinion and has the right to state that opinion in the proper forum, whether I like what they say or not. I can learn something from everyone and from every point of view (even learning something from an opposing view that gives me something to support my own view). 2) When my kids/animals can suffer with Lyme Disease or West Nile Virus, or scratch themselves sick with infection from biting flies and mosquitos, I feel I have a responsibility to prevent such suffering. However, the chemicals they use in some of these repellants and pesticides are probably going to do harm to the ones I am trying to protect. Since these chemicals won't be swallowed, even though they will be absorbed into the body when put on the skin, they are not rigorously tested. I do try to keep our environment as free as possible from such insects by removing standing water, sealing trash bags, etc. But if I find one of these insects in my house OF COURSE I'm going to kill it! 3) I teach my kids to respect and care for our earth, the animals, all living things. 3) I know I'm probably going to get killed for this one, but with all the compassion we have for insects, why don't we have compassion for unborn babies? Women do have the right to choose what they want to do with their bodies, but if they choose to be sexually active, then there is a risk of pregnancy (I do believe an exception can be made for rape, incest, life of the mother). I was pro-choice until I saw the ultrasound of my little 8-week-old son's little heart beating away when he was smaller than my little finger. Guest guest
This is why people on the list should have stuck on topic instead of engaging in a pissing content over who was the bigger animal lover. Now we're talking about abortion. Can we end this before I have to start bringing up my views on children (I'm childfree for moral reasons)? Guest guest
I wish I did - but with a son allergic to wheat, corn, tomatoes, peanuts, chocolate, tuna and vinegar, I don't think any of you would like anything I cook! LOL!! I have to take what you all post and some things I can use, and the rest I have to change (and it doesn't taste nearly as good as the original). Let's see, I have a vinegar-free mayo and mustard recipes, wheat-free pastas, breads, pizza crust, etc. I have a great tomato sauce substitute - but its made from zucchini, so its green. Guest guest
Well, I just had to say something. Lauren, I agree with what you say until the end, but that is me. I don't what to get into that. However, I also teach my kids to respect the earth, my father did the same for me. My brother that does not kill one bug. He used to sit in a ant hill and let them crawl all over him, and spiders etc. Now to the person that asked the (?) have you and do you do that? Just a question. No harm to you. I was not going to answer this question, because I do kill some bugs, not all. I just have a thing about bugs, and when you could die from one sting, you run. I can tell you I leave them alone, but if they are in my house I find a way to get them out or they are bye - bye. ( Every person has a right to their own opinion and has the right to state that opinion ) So true. Just my 2 cents Nieves Scheer Family wrote: > OK, I've been listening to all this and I am finally going to put in > my .02 1) No 2 people are completely alike, nor think alike. Guest guest
You might want to take a moment to remember who and how this all got started. There are trouble makers everywhere on the internet, you just happen to have a very good one here on this list. I have found the best way to deal with them is to engage the delete key whenever I see their names on the " from " line. I am an animal lover, activist and vegetarian and I'm damned proud of it. But I came here for the veggie recipes. I've got AR lists coming out of my ying yang, what I need are good veggie recipes. Guest guest
Actually, the reason I posted my message was sort-of tongue-in-cheek to show how off-topic it got and to get us back to recipes. I really didn't mean anything rude . . . Guest guest
Yes, we tried spelt, but he reacted to it. Although that was three years ago, so we are due for a challenge to it. It would be nice to have spelt, as spelt has gluten and breads won't be so crumbly. I do make barley bread, but he doesn't like the taste. Guest guest
Are you people out of your friggin' minds? This is a group for recipes! I don't give a damn what your reasons are for using a meat free diet. There are other groups available for you to whine and cry about abortion or eating bugs or what ever the hell you'd like.
