Guest guest
Chris, Heaven knows there are many, many reasons for infertility problems. I'd be glad to share what I experienced and what I know with you off list if you'd like. Took me 10 years and many tears but I've got three healthy kids now. Feel free to email me privately if you'd like. Good Luck, Robin
Guest guest
Chris, ditto what Robin said. I've been veggie far longer than I " ve been a mother. It had no bearing on my first conception, and it doesn't affect my own inability to conceive again, now. If you want to join a ttc list, LMK. Lots of support there, and maybe more ideas? Guest guest
Hello, All! Without being too graphic or detailed, I have a fertility question for you. My husband and I have been ovo lacto (and a small amount of fish) for just over two years. For the last two years my female cycle has not been right. This is also the length of time that we have been trying, unsuccessfully, to conceive. I have been to three doctors who say that my vegetarian eating should not be interfering with my cycle/trying to conceive. However, none of them have been able to determine what is wrong. Has anyone on this list had similar problems, and/or does anyone have any ideas as to if my problem might be related to my diet??? I would be happy to give anyone more info off-list, if you need more info to help you understand! Thank you so much! I'm just hoping the fellow vegetarians might have a bit of info! Guest guest
Your female cycle changed at about the same time you changed your diet? You could try giving up the vegetarian diet for a while and see if it makes any difference. I don't think the two are related, but everyone's system is different and you are concerned enough to ask here, so it might be worth this experiment. If nothing else it might put your mind at ease that you did everything you could. Personally, I concieved, birthed, nursed, and raised all my kids while eating vegetarian so of course I don't think it is your diet. Try everything you think makes sense though. You know yourself better than anyone. Also, find any nurses you can and ask them about the doctors. They may have the inside scoop on who is the best. Good luck! I have been to three > doctors who say Right now you're trying to conceive? It's such a grand world to bring (even more) kids into. Be that as it may, do you eat a lot of Soy? Soy can throw off your cycles severely, I've heard. Preston
Guest guest
It took me a year to conceive the first time and I started to worry that my veg diet might have something to do with it. I consulted with a vegan cooking instructor and she insisted that even if there were dietary contributors, we could figure out how to accomodate it with a vegetarian diet. Then I conceived, no problem - twice - without changing my diet. But my cycle was very regular. I didn't think your original message said your cycles becoming irregular corresponded with becoming vegetarian. I wouldn't be quick to blame your diet. And even if your diet is contributing, I believe you can improve your diet without resorting to eating meat, chicken, or fish. Fertility lists are great places to get support and info. ONNA ("Oh no not again" - meaning getting your period instead of being pregnant) was a good one for me. Good luck. -- Dodi
