Guest guest
Malva verticellata This ingredient was listed in tea that I purchased the other day. Has anyone every heard of it? Also would anyone know whether licorice root and persimmon leaf are good when dieting? From what I understand these three ingredients should be avoided by the elderly and pregnant and/or lactating mothers. Thanks for your help. Malva is Mallow, I'm not sure about the verticellata (my latin is " rusty " ) but Malva is definitely mallow. Licorice: Excessive amounts of the root, herbal teas, or candy derived from Licorice may be harmful. Licorice increases salt retention and depletes the potassium in the body, causing lack of energy, weekness and even death. People with high blood pressure or heart problems should avoid licorice. (Magic and Medicine of Plants) Excessive is the key word here. But frankly, if I were pregnant I would not take it in case my blood pressure went up or I started to retain water. I have never heard of Licorice root being used for weight loss, but rather for a source of estrogen. I have no information on Persimmon leaf. Sorry. I can't find the verticellata either. I found that Malva sylvestris is the common mallow, and dwarf mallow is Malva rotundifolia For these mallows' it is a good source of Vit C and softens and soothes the skin and relieves irritated skin or mucous membranes. That's all I can find. JJ
