My Grandpa had old me years ago it didn't hurt to have the beaks cut but it's inhumane. He owned a pet shop and dealt with exotic birds. He said it does cause problems, eating and then defending themselves. Anyway you look at it, it's so not right!!!!!PuterWitch <puterwitch wrote:

me too Debra, here I was thinking that I was being ok by buying the free range eggs that are twice to three times the price of the regular ones. How dare they dupe us like that. That's ok, karma will come and bite them on the butt. I can just imagine the pain of having their beak cut, I can feel it in my face when I think about it.

I am actually seriously considering buying a chicken. I wish I could get my family to see. When I told them of this they were like, "yeah, so." It scares me, I raised them.

Eggs & Dairy

Hi everyone,

I've been a lacto-ovo veg for about two and a half years. My middle daughter (27) has been Vegan for 5 mos. I thought I could live with the eggs and cheese, etc until I checked out that site Chanda posted. I think I'm going to have to work toward being totally vegan. I just can't believe what we humans are willing to put animals through in the name of food. I feel ashamed. Thanks for the info Chanda. I have new goals now.

I love it when people say it doesn't hurt.

Just like it doesn't hurt to have a hook jammed up a fishes throat, LOL. And they say fish have no memory. When my hubby or boys go near the tank they pay them no mind, but when my daughter or I go near the tank they immediately swim to the top opening their mouths wide for food, cause we are the only ones who feed them.

peeps say it doesn't hurt because the beak is hard material, but it is connected to soft material, just like we need Novocain to have a tooth filled. :o)

Blessings,

Chanda

Ooooooooooooooooooooo like a hard tooth next to nerves. I had a huge goldfish and he knew me also. I was the only one that fed him. Cutting of beaks needs to be banned, I agree.PuterWitch <puterwitch wrote:

OK. I am interested in what originally sparked this discussion. I think I missed the link Chanda posted on the topic. I've been trying to cut back on the dairy. Actually I was trying to figure out how to get closer to vegan, whole foods, less processed... I knwo they are not all the same but not exactly sure on the exact direction I'm trying to get to... just healthier and less cruel over all.

Does anyone know which link it was?

<shaking head sadly> How would he or anyone know if chickens feel the

pain of beak cutting?!?!? It's just a way to remove themselves from

feeling any guilt of actually doing the dirty deed.

Here in Iowa, for confinement building hogs, they cut off the pigs'

tails because otherwise when they fight they will bite the tails and

cause major infection. Right now there is a huge fight brewing over

confinement buildings. The state of Iowa has taken away any rights

from the people to protest hog confinements going up. So, residents

don't have any legal action if a huge confinement goes up on the

property next to them. We need to change that now!

Yeah, it's called State's rights and this state's legislature decided

that its people didn't need any rights to fight against corporate

farming. Unfortunately we don't have referendum here so we can't just

start a petition to get on a ballot. That's why I'm getting involved

with who is running for govenor of Iowa. I want someone who's going to

care more about the people than the corporations of Iowa.
