Guest guest
Hi Jenn, Get thick hard steal cut oats and cook them about 15 minutes, the oatmeal will be chewy and you'll enjoy it much better. I steam brussel sprouts and cut them in half. I pour savory sauce over the top and bread crumbs and even a little parmesan and bake for 30 mins. on 350. Now that will doctor them up if you don't care for them. I didn't check but if the savory vegan sauce isn't in the recipe file let me know and I'll post it for you...........Donna Jennifer <jj_73molly wrote: Thanks, Chanda. Yes, I will try them. A good way to serve them if you have the time is to pull them apart leaf by leaf. Guest guest
Hi Kim, Kim is another one of my good simming buddies, LOL. Brussels sprouts and okra seem to be the veggies that peeps either don't like or are afraid to try. I love the little Brussels, but okra......ugh, but then again, I pick on okra but I have never had it cooked the way they do in the south <Bron> but then again Bron says she doesn't like it either, or did you Bron, am I wrong there? It just is too slimy for me, and I am not picky. It's the ONLY vegetable that I don't like, but then again, I don't think I cooked it right. I WOULD try some okra in soup I guess. Guest guest
Hi Chanda, My husband and oldest daughter love it fried. I had it once and it was just too slimy for me. My mom always told me to try everything at least once. If you still don't like it, you never have to eat it again. Well, I tried it, I hated it and I will never eat it again! But I have always liked brussel sprouts. Steamed, a little bit of melted butter, salt, pepper and a squeeze of lemon juice. Yum!PuterWitch <puterwitch wrote: Hi Kim, Kim is another one of my good simming buddies, LOL. Brussels sprouts and okra seem to be the veggies that peeps either don't like or are afraid to try. Guest guest
Hi Jenn: I like oatmeal however I would never order it out as they make it to waterery and runny. You may want to try making it a little on the thicker side. Maybe a combination of grains would help the texture for you?
Guest guest
I always tell my kids that too. My mom rarely forced me to eat things I didn't like. I hated those lima beans, and that was ok, so now I LOVE lima beans. What I see from people who had parents who forced them to eat stuff they didn't like is that now they hate that stuff. I know a girl who will gag if she sees spinach, just from the memories of being forced to eat it.
