Guest guest
Hello, all. I love sweets! Does anyone here have the same problem but has gone whole foods or at least very few processed foods? I'm looking for some suggestions on how to get ride of the sugar craves. Since I started eating vegetarian in April I have not eaten as much sweet junk food. However, I still eat more than I'd like. Any ideas? My other concern is that I've go way overboard on the salty stuff instead. J Lyn Write with red. Paint with blue. Create magenta. Form ideas. Draw phrases. Guest guest
I was like that, and every so often I fall back. But I try to eat more fruits and veggie. I always have something good for me ready to eat, this is where I run into trouble. Mashed potatoes cure my salt need, when I make them (which is a lot since they are my fav) I make a lot. While the potatoes are boiling I add seasonings like salt, but I also put in red pepper, sage, basil, thyme, garlic, whatever I grab. This adds new flavor. Do you have a juicer? You can make apple juice lemonade that will kick the sugar craving. Juice apples to make 8 oz of juice and add 1/4 lemon. This is the most refreshing lemonade I have ever had:) Nicole , J Rouge <spice_e_talula_rouge> wrote: > Hello, all. > I love sweets! Guest guest
Hello, all. I love sweets! Does anyone here have the same problem but has gone whole foods or at least very few processed foods? I'm looking for some suggestions on how to get ride of the sugar craves. I, too, love sweets and the only thing that works for me is to go cold turkey and never, ever keep anything sweet in the house. It helps if you live alone as I do. If there's a husband and kids, no easy task. I have found that the longer I stay away from sweets, the less I crave them and if I do eat something sweet it doesn't taste as good as anticipated. Fruit, as someone suggested, is a great idea especially if you live near an orchard and can get real fruit as opposed to that plastic stuff they sell in the supermarket. Just today my daughter and I went apple picking and she asked why we can't get apples like this in a store. If you can't give sweets up completely, just try a very small portion (even a bite or two can sometimes do the trick) and keep repeating the mantra....empty calories, empty calories. While I'm here, will throw out my intro. Joined the group yesterday and have been veggie for ethical reasons for 17 years. I have two adult daughters and an empty nest (except for cats three) and while I love them dearly, I love, love, love, living alone. Did I say I loved living alone? :-) I work full time and get in after 7:00 p.m. so my cooking is pretty much limited to the weekend when I try to stock up for the week. Great to be here!
