OK TVP unfavored like you purchased will take on many flavors. Reconstitute one

cup of TVP (scant cup) to a full cup of boiling water. I use a Pyrex 2 cup

measuring cup. I put the dry TVP in and place the bolied water on top. Give it

a quick stir and cover with a small plate and let sit for 10 mins. Then it's

ready to toss into spaghetti sauce, your Hamburger Helper (LOL your dinner was a

hit! ), use in sloppy joe mix, etc. You can give it a flavor by adding a few

drops of liquid smoke while it reconstitutes and toss into beans, kind of brings

on the ham flavoring in pea soup or beans. I suggest this book " The TVP

Cookbook " by Dorothy R. Bates. Easy to make recipes and so far I haven't found

a bad one yet. It's usually on sale used for a dollar ot two on www.amazon.com

or www.half.com

Let me know if you need any help with the TVP.

Hugs, Donna

I found TVp today in my regular ol' supermarket.

Any time I heard you guys talk of TVP I thought you were talking about soy

ground " meat " like the morningstar ground " meat "

I had no idea it was beige in color and dry and on the shelf and not

refrigerated.

Hey Thanks Donna!

Ok, so where does one get liquid smoke? What isle is it in, like with the

ketchup and stuff?

Can I use boiling veggie broth to reconstitute?

I am excited, LOL.

Kitchen Bouquet will darken it and give it a gravy flavor, that and liquid smoke

is usually in the isle with BBQ sauce, it's in a little dark bottle (both are).

Ask the store manager and he will tell you the wrong isle.LOL

Yes, veggie broth is perfect to use when you reconstitute it.
