Guest guest
what a nice story Donna, thanks for sharing. I think it would be cool if everyone told us how they started onthis vegetarian path. Was it heath reasons, or other reasons? For me personally it was for spiritual reasons first, thenhealth reasons, now just to annoy people. No just kidding,t hat is from the joke Amy sent in. Seriously after starting to study Shamanism, and hoping to someday meet with my spirit guide I realized that Icould no way meet with a spirit guide who's body Iwould normally consume. That got me thinking about all animals in general. Then when I started researching I discovered all the pain and agonythey go through, and realized how terrible it is to raise " God's " creatures for slaughter. After I became a vegetarian for these spiritual reasons, I started to feel better physically, then I was also doing it for health reasons, cutting down on fats such as butter etc. Now I feel so much better and my conscience is clear as well. hugs, Chanda Tell your story. I wanna hear it. ) - purplepassion Monday, October 10, 2005 7:31 PM Re: Re: Intro from Debra and JLyn also Over 25 yrs ago the krishna's were having their festival fo the Chariots at Venice Beach. I was fascinated and took off my skates and spent the day with them. They gave me a nice cookbook, prayer beads (I still have both) food samples and flowers. I decided if veggie foos could taste that good and they were so willing to give me a book and welcome me into their festival, I would try doing this for one month. I never looked back. Mt Mom has always been a vegetarian but her food was so darn borning and I would always experiment in the kitchen but didn't always know what I was doing. I taught myself just as JLyn is doing and it really is fun. JLyn has been so committed to sticking with this lifestyle and it's wonderful she asks questuions. Oh, the Krishna's have a restaurant on venice Blve at the border of venice Beach and L.A. Donna Debra Thompson <Debrathompson wrote: Thanks Donna:) So...Krishnas turned you Veggie? What Temple? Was it heath reasons, or other reasons? I decided one day that I absolutely could not out and kill a chicken, much less a cow, to have for dinner... and I figured I shouldn't " pass the buck " and make someone else do my dirty work. The ethical, health and animal treatment reasons just kept piling on as well, and I've been veg for probably 12 or 14 years.

Guest guest
My neice said grace this Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving was Monday), and she said, " I wish that they would stop killing the animals, I don't think they should kill any animals any more. " And then proceeded to eat turkey and gravy. Cath , " Amy " <sandpiperhiker> wrote: > > > ya know, I just don't get it.
