Guest guest
i always add some sort of veggie ground mince to my chilli because i was raised on chili con carne and am used to having that texture; though now i enjoy straight up plain veg chili. i like your idea of adding a beer to your chili, but you may wish to rethink the addition of Guinness as it is not vegetarian. It is still produced using isinglass, which is made from fish bladders. http://www.ivu.org/faq/drink.html It isn't in the final product, but is used in the making, so most vegans avoid beers made in this manner. Some vegetarians will drink it though. There are some vegan-safe beers; last i read most German beer is made sans isinglass. ~ pt ~ " If you get troubled, go and sit by the river. ( I'll be trying it, by the way, never thought of adding Guiness) for those accustomed to the original recipe though I'd use meat substitutes - many a carnivore has loved my spagetti sauce and swore there had to be meat in it! > peace, > Angela

Guest guest
Matt, do you have access to any micro brews? You could buy a stout or rich porter that might give you the same outcome. Rogue Brewery puts out some nice stouts and porters as well as Full Sail, both from Oregon.
