Hey how are you Craige? Now I'm honored.

Yes, this is a good one. Enjoy! I was thinking of trying your soup this

weekend. That is such a good type soup for this time of the

year.............Donna

I'm good! A little crazed at work, but that's life, I guess. My husband

whipped up some pierogies for us when I got home last night (at 9:30, argh!)

and guess what he did? He was inspired all by himself to add diced tomato

and yellow bell pepper to them b/c there was only a little bit of onion in

the fridge. He usually just uses an insane amount of onion when he makes

them. (He's not much of a cook, but that is one of " his " dishes to make when

I'm coming home late.) I told him that I had just read about adding various

veggies to the pierogies in my veg group, but I was impressed that he

thought that up all by himself because I definitely had not mentioned it to

him that I'd read it here. I had actually thought that he wouldn't go for

adding anything but his precious onions, heh. Although he loves his onions,

he cries like crazy when he cuts them. He had the notion recently to put on

ski goggles while cutting them up. I will post a pic I took of him wearing

them. What a goofball!

Now to find barley.... I'll probably have to go to the big grocery store to

find that.

I bought the pearl barley, but if I had it to do again I would have bought it

pot, or hulled, I read this :

most of this grain is consumed by humans in two forms. The most common is the

white, highly processed " pearl " barley that has had most of its bran and germ

milled off along with its hull. It is the least nutritious form of barley. The

second form it's found in is called " pot " or " hulled " barley and it has been

subjected to the same milling process as pearled, but with fewer trips through

the polisher. Because of this, it retains more of the nutritious germ and bran.

by the way, I tried Donna's " coffee " with the barley and it rocks!

hugs,

Chanda

Can I laugh any harder? I can't wait to see the ski googles, just imagining

himin them while chopping onions is a riot.

You better get him into our group if he's willing to change his recipe around

and add veggies, that's great news.

There's still no perogi's where I can find them. I tried last weekend.

Barley is very easy to find. It's in a little plastic one pond bag next to

beans in the market.

The pic is up. Check now! I also posted one of him and me (no goggles

in that one) and one of our cat eating her favorite vegetable. ;-)

Thanks, Donna!

Also, Chanda, I will keep an eye out for those different types of barley

when I go shopping for it. I didn't realize there were so many varieties.
