Guest guest
I haven't read it. I can't see much from looking inside online. Please elaborate Susan and tell us a little of what it is about. This book has the results of experiments done to plants that were hooked up to lie detectors. It works about the same way on plants as people, charting changes in (emotions?) the readings. Plants scream when injured. Plants reacted when a person who had harmed another plant in front of them entered the room. Plants fear fire. Plants like (different kinds of) music. Basically, plants have feelings too.... Having said that I must add I never felt healthier than when I was vegetarian, but all this moral righteousness about being vegetarian could be due to lack of understanding or knowledge of plants. *hides under rock*
Guest guest
I have had this discussion before with my religious group, which brought up Jainism, a form of Buddhism that only eats the fruit of plants, not the leaves or the roots. I don't know if this is correct or not, plants being sentient, and I have thought about it before. I do know that we DO have to eat, and if we cut out animals at least we are cutting out something where there is no debate. We all know they feel pain. As far as plants go, we really don't know for sure if they are sentient, and to what extent. I would love to live on the Gods'good air and sunshine, but oh well, I can't, LOL. Blessings, Chanda PS. you can come out from under the rock, we won't hurt you, after all, we are vegetarians for goodness' sake! - susan_hermit Monday, November 07, 2005 2:27 PM Re: The secret life of plants >I haven't read it.
