Guest guest
I've heard/read that not all nutritional yeast has B-12 in it. Has anyone else heard that? Another essential item missing from all American diets is Omega-3 DHA. I've read a lot of information on this and how important it is for the fetus' developing brain. I got flax oil capsules from Vegetarian Vitamins (made with gelatin-free capsules): http://www.vegetarianvitamin.com/index.html or, check out this product: http://nutru.com/our_products/omega-zen-3.htm Denise , " PuterWitch " <puterwitch@c...> wrote: > > just as long as you are getting your vitamins, and your prenatal is a backup so that rocks. > The only vitamin that we really have to worry about is b-12 as I read that is not gotten properly from veg sources, so I use nutritional yeast flakes, thanks to Donna for my b-12. > > Hugs, > Chanda
Guest guest
I make sure mine has it, and also the flax seed has the omega if I am not mistaken? - organic_homestead Monday, November 07, 2005 2:29 PM Re: B-12 and Omega-3 DHA I've heard/read that not all nutritional yeast has B-12 in it. Guest guest
Yes, but when pregnant you need more than what you can get by just adding flax seed to your food; that's where the capsules come in handy - they have a higher concentration. Guest guest
Hi Denise: If you could use the flax seed you would be better off as it has not only the omega 3, it has plant lingons which help fight cancer and fiber. Guest guest
Thanks, Gayle. The flax oil capsule that I take have: Linoleic Acid (omega-6) 130mg Oleic Acid (omega-9) 120mg Alpha-Linolenic Acid (omega-3) 550mg which are the items you are speaking of. I did read that most vegetarians/vegans who eat a healthy and varied plant-based diet gets plenty of omega 6 & 9. However, there seems to be a difference between the above and the omega-3 DHA. I am interested in the plant based Omega-Zen that I mentioned. Although I think incorporating flax into your diet is very important and it just depends on the concentration that you need. I do have ground flax seed in my freezer that I add to many things, especially smoothies. Next I need to start using those yeast flakes that I bought!
