I love(d) these and used to love making them. <wistful> I reckon there are

some things you just can't veganize, though and I'm afraid this is one of

'em.

I really don't see why this wouldn't work with veg margarine, Bron!

And I'm sure I've seen vegan chocolate chips - you could mold the

batter around two or three of those instead of a Hershey Kiss...

Yeah, thanks for being the tester, Melissa!

I don't use Splenda or any artificial sweetener on principle, but I will

look for the turbinado sugar. And I've seen Tropical brand chocolate chips

(organic). As well, I HAVE seen (since I saw this recipe again, here, I mean)

Hain's Organic Powdered Sugar and Brown Sugar. WOO HOO! I can do this now, I

can do this and a lot of other things again, Yippee Ki Yi Yo, I am so

happy... <g> Doesn't take much to make me happy, don't cha know. <wink>

And! and! AND!!! I found the Willow Run soy butter in the Natural Foods

refrigerated area at Krogers on Sunday afternoon!!! WOO HOOEE!!! (If I

already said this, forgive me in my joy.) For cheaper than cow butter...If I

could click my heels together like Dorothy, I would...LOL...Now I can feel

that I have a 'baking home' again and that's pure-d wonderful!

Thanks again, Melissa!
