Tuno?

Tuno is tasty. It resembles tuna, as well as I can remember after more than 37

years. It's good prepared as tuno salad with mayo and pickle; and it's good

prepared like salmon croquets.

....

Be kind. Be of good cheer.

Oops! I missed the question. I use the frozen Tuno (love to make " crab "

cakes with it!). I once bought some of the canned Tuno, and I thought it

was awful. One note: Tuno is really, really salty, so omit or cut down

the salt in your recipe if you're using it.

the mountains from ya.

Hi Linda,

I live near Eugene, and I get my Tuno in Springfield at Wynant's Family

Health Foods

Address: 1859 Pioneer Pkwy E, Springfield, OR 97477

Phone: (541) 746-4251

I'm guessing you live somewhere in the Bend area, so maybe you come here on

occasion. If I were you, I'd call them before you come, if you do, and

make sure they have several on hand that they will save for you. They also

carry Worthington Sea " Skallops, " which I like to do a shake-and-bake thing

with. You might also try contacting your local natural food store to see

if they will special order it for you. Or you could ask your local Seventh

Day Adventist group, if you have one, and see if they have some sort of

group buy or cooperative. Those foods are very popular with many Adventists.

If you do come over the Cascades sometime, we could meet for a vegetarian

or vegan lunch! There are lots of great restaurants in Eugene offering both.

Sherry

P.S. Wild Oats in Eugene -- both stores are gone now, but we're due to get

a Whole Food Market -- a huge one -- in downtown Eugene in 2007.

I would love to move to Eugene! It's such a pretty

place and so vegan friendly.

I love the morning glory cafe! So good!

You, too, Linda! Since the Seahawks won, I'm in a pretty good mood right

now. Since people are on both sides of Tuno, you could just bring a cooler

next time you go to your painting class and buy just one to see whether you

like it. (That way, you could also stop by Trader Joe's and load up on

their fantastic frozen vegan meatballs, too ;-)).

I have never been to a Trader Joes I would love to go though they sound

good I hope you enjoy your Whole food Market that would be terrific.

We have a very small natural foods store in REdmond but they are more for

the vitamins, etc not so much the food end of it.

I forgot about the frozen Tuno; it is better than the canned version. Many of

the Worhington canned meat substitutes have frozen versions, either as slices or

big or small frozen balogna shaped things. All the frozen things are better than

the canned. Wham and smoked turkey are probably the best meat substitutes made,

I think.

The canned Tuno may not be universally loved, but it isn't universally hated

either. I think it's worth trying as tuno salad or something.

....

Be kind. Be of good cheer.
