went grocery shopping yesterday for a few things to round out menus

for rest of month and found Silk soynog--it is so good : ). it could

be a serious addiction : ). found it at Walmart and it was even

cheaper than regular dairy-stuff which almost never happens for

me : ).

picked up icemelt and new Christmas tree. kids and I are decorating

it Thanksgiving night and watching Charlie Brown holiday special.

they think if we get the tree up soon--their dad will get home

sooner : ).

we are expecting our first winter storm this afternoon--I can

barely contain myself : ). we are on the border of 1-3 " and 3-6 "

snow with blizzard-like conditions and as long as I can get kids

picked up before it starts and we get tucked into house for the day--

I say " let it snow " . the first snowfall is always the best--kids are

out trying to catch snowflakes on their tongues : ). putting a large

pot of spaghetti sauce on this afternoon and may make a dark

chocolate vegan cake with a little powdered sugar on top.

we have a Cookie Walk coming up at school and this year we are

doing 6 dozen vegan cookies : ). the newest issue of Veggie Life has

a good section on vegan baking and some yummy looking cookies. so as

I start baking them in next few weeks--will post reviews of them : ).

take care: )................

Where do you live Anne?

I know! I picked up that nog the other day at whole foods, along with my organic

valley soymilk and soy choco milk. It is really good. What I hated about nog was

how thick it was. This has the nog flavor but it's thin, yum.

I also got 2 jars of veganaise. YUM. I can't get enough of that stuff. Yesterday

I made Donna's savory sauce. By the way, the recipe says not to use silken tofu,

and I thought that was strange being that it is a dip like texture, so I used

the silken. I am a recipe rebel. And it was not as good as when you use the

regular ol' firm tofu. She is right.

anywho, I put a nice big dollop of veganaise in it, yum.

I also picked up a bottle of maple syrup. 18 bucks! ouchies.

Oh, and a question. I bought two packs of organic sugar because it was labels,

" evaporated cane juice "

Is this better for us than regular sugar ? or is the only benefit that to the

environment?

Hubbby's Aunt gave me a box of that stuff, what is it called, Stevia? something

like that, the sweetener made from the plant that actually has fiber in it? Well

anyway, I will use it in recipes but I did not like the taste in my tea. I am

sticking to maple syrup in my tea, and for the added bite sometimes the

blackstrap molasses.

--- Chanda--

I live in NE Iowa : ). took dog out for walk at marsh this morning

and it is sleety and won't be long before it changes over to snow.

once I have kids in for the day it will be exciting--I hate driving in

it initially because there are enough idiots yet who think it's OK to

drive 60-65 mph on ice roads but then it seems everyone's common sense

kicks in : ).

gotta love Vegannaise--love it with tofurky deli slices of all

things. Walmart is now carrying containers of natural sugar? Florida

crystals? price isn't bad at all. soynog is good but it is thick--I

may thin down with a bit of lite soymilk. take care : )....

I wonder about the natural sugar. Is it better for us and the environment or

just the environment, The bag I got at whole foods says dehydrated cane juice,

organic sugar. I wonder if there is a difference.

Wish I would have bought cane juice instead.
