Question about beans

Soak them overnight and start cooking them the next day. Add what you want

to add after they have cooked for a while. It will probably take 3 to 4

hours of cooking for all the different beans to be cooked. Mixed beans make

a great soup!!

Question about Beans

I bought some bulk beans from a bin at Sprouts (like a Whole Foods but

smaller) and they were something like an 8 or 10 bean mix or something (it

was a while ago, I forget, lol) -- anyhow, they're dry beans, so I was

thinking of doing a soup or something - but I have no idea what to do!

I've

never used a dry bean before! Do I need to soak them or something?

Help!

I don't soak them. I buy this mix often. Rinse beans, toss in the crockpot,

add enough broth or water to cover the beans by several inches (they swell as

they cook), I like to add a can of stewed tomatoes (I use Italian or Mexican or

Rotel spicy), I also add finely chopped onion, garlic, celery, carrots and

herbs.

Add the salt at the end of cooking if needed, cooking the beans with salt

sometimes makes them tough. I learned from the group about that one. I usually

cook in the crockpot on high for about 2 or 3 hrs and turn to low and let it

continue cooking until done.

HI Stacee:

Yes you need to soak them. I would soak them overnight and then drain and rinse

the beans then cover with water and bring to a boil and then simmer until they

soften. Drain them again before making your soup.
