Guest guest
-Welcome Alana, Congratulations on becoming a Vegetarian. So sorry to hear about your mother's poor health. Perhaps you can make some tasty recipes from the files and share with her. I was in your beautiful country a couple years ago and noticed that everyone speaks French as a second language. Such a beautiful language sure wish I had paid closer attention in my French class years ago. Just being around the language helps..I noticed that when I was in Canada I started hearing more words and understanding more. In my state Spanish is the second language of many. I love this language also and constantly try to learn more of the words. The welfare of our fellow creatures is another reason for living this lifestyle. Guest guest
Strange.....I had no problem giving up red meat. Well....I did have a problem with Crystal burgers, but I got over that. LOL But, fish is one of my favorites. When we moved here, and walked our dogs, the first thing we saw were the cows, that came running up to see us. Man....I luv my cows. Haven't met a pig I luv yet....but I am learning. I have had a heart attack and have 7 stents, so I need to eat healthy. Never been to Montreal, but I hear it is a beautiful city. Fish and pork were easy as they really weren't a favorite. I only ate red meat when I was out with friends - never bought it for myself. Finally made the complete transition 7 days ago. I decided to become a vegetarian when my mom got sick. After she suffered from 2 strokes, cancer and diabetes, I decided I better change my habits. Making the switch has been a lot easier since my daughter moved out on her own. She still enjoys her meat! I've also become more and more concerned about the wellfare of animals. I'm 44 yrs. old, live in Montreal (and no, I'm not French, although I do speak it), and am really looking forward to trying some new recipes. I have started slow, giving up one thing at a time. Guest guest
Hi everyone. I just joined because I'm always looking for new recipes. I'm a struggling vegan, went cold turkey to start, but it's been tough (I love dairy!). I also to try to limit my soy intake which reduces my options. As for my own recipes, I usually just get an idea and start adding things that I think will taste good together. Sometimes they turn out great, other times... not so great ;-( I don't really write down any formal recipes, but I will try to remember what I used for the ones that turn out well. I do always try to make complete proteins by having beans or nuts and grains like rice, pasta, barley, amaranth, etc. And then, of course, a plethora of veggies! :-D It's been really wonderful finding new foods AND new spices to incorporate into my diet. I'm always looking for new things and new ways to serve them! Happy eating! Cheryl
