I take this awesome vitamin. It gives me energy and

Does this supply you with enough B12, which I hear vegans can lack from

a normal diet? It looks pretty good though :)

I do believe that 5 mcg (micrograms) per day will take care of it. Plus, if you

were formerly a meateater, you still have B12 in your system. Your body does a

good job of storing it. Dr. John McDougall of the famed McDougall diet says

that you should regularly take a B12 supplement if you have been vegan for 3+

years.

Personally, I o.d. on nutritional yeast flakes, many brands of which contain

B12, because it works in so many different dishes, and also take a supplement

about once per week. I've been too lazy to research the source of B12 in

fortified soymilk so I've steered clear of that so far.

Hi Melinda. Go to Dr. Michael Gregor's site for info about vegan

vitamins:

http://www.veganmd.com/, then click on Selected Writings, and from there

click on Plant-Based Multivitamins handout.

Here is some info on protein:

Here is a discussion of amino acids and essential amino acids:

cucumber, dandelion, endive, garlic, radish, spinach, turnip greens.

Arginine: Alfalfa, beets, carrots, celery, cucumber, green vegetables,

dandelion, endive, fennel, snap beans, spinach, turnips, nutritional

yeast.

*Threnoine: Papaya, alfalfa, carrots, green leafy vegetables like:

Have you considered having your home checked for leaking gases? Your diet

sounds good to me, so there might be a totally different cause.

Any ideas?

b12 is VERY important for neurological health or you can get permanent nerve

damage.

get it from a supplement or from fortified foods- but get it every day or at

least several times per week.

large doses aren't absorbed as well as frequent, small doses

Peace,

D

When this was happening to me earlier this year, I found out that it

was from my blood pressure falling due to weight loss. Eventually my

weight stabilized and it quit happening. Just something to think about

if this might also be true for you.

I would look into a multi, and a good b-12 supplement as well as a dha

supplement. I had light headedness, off balance, and even mood swings before

putting b-12 and dha back into my diet through supplements. DHA can lead to a

myriad of issues, so make sure you look for a vegetarian flax oil or pill form

that has the vegetarian sourced (algae) form of dha added (no, flax oil alone is

not enough)

you might also make sure you are getting enough vitamin d.
