Guest guest
Dear Tracy, Thank you for asking.. Not well.. still having the tummy aches really bad.. does not seem to be improving and even has started to loose weight, which is nerve racking since he has no extra weight to loose. I am going to see if our Dr. will run the two differnet allergy test that this lab offers: http://www.meridianvalleylab.com/ they are a good lab, and total between the two test will test over 180 things. I had my Daughter tested through this lab 3 years ago.. and it is a much better testing then RAST. So I am hoping our DR. will be open to the idea.. she only tested 22 things with RAST. Guest guest
Dear Tracy, How far away is Redmond from Vancouver/Portland? Is there any special groups in this area for celiacs? or gluten free eating?? Amy faytk wrote: > Amy, > > I didn't realize you were that close to me. Guest guest
Amy, Redmond is about 3 hours from Portland. My mother in law lives in Portland so we go to visit her once in awhile. We do have a gluten intolerance group that meets monthly but I have to say that I have only gone once in the last 4 years. It just always seems to fall on a day that I have a show or something else is going on. Tracy
Guest guest
Amy, You know, I had that test a year ago through Meridian lab and nothing came back positive.Even the foods I know I cannot eat came back fine. It was weird though, because everything I was eating regularly showed up a tiny bit, not close enough to be an allergy though. I wonder if the other foods that I know I can't eat didn't show up because I hadn't eaten them for so long. It was really strange! Guest guest
Hi Amy, My name is Laura, I had gotten sick last Feb. and they had done a colonoscopy on me to find out why I was so sick , I got over being sick but then they came back and told me I had Celiac. I had gotten better but my stomach was never quite right. I have never gone for the blood test they recommended , because i have other heath issues also I had a heart transplant in 1999 and I think my lowered immune system is a cause for most of the things that have sprung up on me in the way of sickness. I do know that sometimes i never feel good when I eat but I am a person who also refuses to believe that I have this, it is like taking away part of you for you to have to change your while way of eating, I can fully understand your husband and his denial, I am still eating regular foods but as you can see i have joined this group so I must have some feeling that there is truth to this, it is scary and to think of changing your whole way of eating is hard. I really feel for your husband give him my best and let him know your family is in my thoughts. Also they found out about mine by doing a biopsy of my colon. Laura ---- 11/04/04 21:58:59 Chit-chat No recipe from me this time. I just thought I would share what has been happening at our home. My son was diagnosed with Celiac 7.5 years ago when he was 19 months old. We never knew who had it in our family. Well I finally got my husband to get the blood work done for Celiac, and today we got the results. The blood work was abnormal. My huband refuses to believe that he could have Celiac and wants to follow up with a G.I. that is fine with me. I will be calling around our area to find one that understands Celiac and families with it. My husband has been dealing a lot with health issues, was told last week that he had to go on a special diet because he has high blood pressure and he is border line diabetic. So for the last week I have had him on a low sodium, fat, sugar and carbohydrate diet. He has lost 6 pounds and his blood pressure has been in the normal ranges for the last few days. But now with this news he feels awful, does not want to except it. I am sure he has this, and am glad to get the proof. But I feel horrible for my husband as well, and know that this will be very hard on him. I have offered to go gluten free with him, if it will help him not to be tempted in the house. But he said he would not talk about it until we see the G.I. But I am rambling now. Thanks for listening to me and letting me get some of this out. Guest guest
> Your trip to Millenium sounded wonderful! I really enjoyed reading all > the details. Thanks so much for sharing! Hope it inspires you Shelly!! :-) I loved that a holiday meal could be so fantastic, without the traditional centerpiece. If you ever make it there, you know what restaurant to go to! :-)
Guest guest
I went to the book store today and found one of the Millenium cook books and went through it. It has wonderful recipes, but not any that I would cook...to complex and long and expensive for some of them. I would rather just pay the $60 bucks to go eat there and get the real thing rather than my version...and it would be my version since they are expert chefs. It was fun though looking at the recipes and photos. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. I don't make things from the books often, but I love everything I make.

Guest guest
Amy, I am terribly sorry to hear of your loss. Loosing a parent is a terribly hard thing to cope with. They are always supposed to be there for us. Even after 10 years I find myself picking up the phone to call them. The moment when I remember that they are gone is still painful. If I can help, let me know. Hugs, Jeanne in GA

Guest guest
Dear Amy I am so sorry to hear about your Mother's passing. If you need anything left me know. This is something that was said to me when my father passed, i hope it helps. I'm still healing. We must find ways to grieve. For without grief there can be no comfort. Often we must force ourselves to reach into our subconscious to uncover our true feelings. Only when we have allowed ourselves to feel all of our pain can we begin to face our loss and slowly begin to heal. Love AJ
