I know that it is more of a generalized response to PETA criticisms and that there are more to the stories than this article highlights. I also know there are in fact some situations in which the animals are in such horrible states that there really is no other choice but euthanasia. That said, I hope that when PETA members/volunteers go into areas/shelters mentioned in the article, they are also doing what they can in terms of contacting local rescue groups to see how they can help. While there are obviously extreme cases, there may be others where salvation can happen if there is outside assistance. Euthanasia should be the very last resort so I hope that all other community resources are thoroughly exhausted beforehand.
