Guest guest
Set to open today. Will be a falafal, pita, special french fries kind of place, with indoor and outdoor seating. Owner promises as close to totally organic as possible. Vegetarian, but not completely vegan--will have some yogurt dressings for those who want to add that to the mix. Chick Pea's ("The Falafel Place") 1926 Shattuck Ave. Berkeley (510) 504-8880 I haven't listed it on the Ultimate Guide yet because I don't have complete information from my visit last week when they were training staff and not yet open. Prices were not listed that day, but a meal will be in the $7-8 range per the owner, who did give me samples to try. I enjoyed the falafel and pita stuffing extras, as well as the fries. Greg " That's great to hear-- I ate at Maoz (rhymes with cows) in Paris last month and it's a blessing for traveling veg*ans. The falafel is incredibly fresh and the toppings are like a salad bar. As far as I know their only US location is Philadelphia.-- Candace

It's a chain; the one near Centraal was run by 2 Indian guys, and they took good care of me. Ajay
Guest guest
I'll be going to Amsterdam at the end of June, and Stockholm the week after that, so that's good to know, Ajay! If anyone else has any tips on eating in these cities, please let me know (of course I'll be checking Happy Cow). Thanks,--RuchiraOn Wed, May 13, 2009 at 12:10 PM, Ajay <ajayboots wrote: kitzcatzhatz wrote: > " This must be the Year of the Falafel in Berkeley, because Maoz > Vegetarian - http://www.maozusa.com/ <http://www.maozusa.com/> - is > trying to open up on Telegraph near Channing. > > Greg " > > That's great to hear-- I ate at Maoz (rhymes with cows) in Paris last > month and it's a blessing for traveling veg*ans.
