Hello friends!We are celebrating the launch of

Youth Empowered Action (YEA) Camp's pilot program this summer!YEA

Camp is a new leadership development and skills training program for

young people who are interested in activism and social change. Set in

the beautiful Santa Cruz mountains August 17-21, 15-20 teens and tweens

and 5-8 staff will work together to explore issues they care about;

build skills they can apply to take effective action; be inspired and

supported by others who are as passionate as they are; and leave

relating to themselves as leaders with the knowledge, resources, and

support to be able to change the world. And they'll have a great time!We

just got word we are receiving fiscal sponsorship from an awesome 501

©3 nonprofit, Youth for Environmental Sanity (YES), meaning we can

now receive donations that are tax-deductible, so we're throwing a

party to celebrate. Sorry for the short notice! We hope you can come! The party is scheduled for this Friday, May 22, from 7-9:30pm at 123 Beaver St. in SF, at a beautiful home in the Castro.Join us to learn about, celebrate, and contribute to the camp's success!

We'll

have yummy snacks and drinks. (Please get in touch if you'd like to

provide some!) Please also get in touch if you have any items you'd

like to donate for our silent auction or raffle!Please RSVP by Thursday at noon, as we may cancel if we don't hear from people that they can come. If you can't come but would like to donate, you can do so at http://www.yesworld.org/donations.htm -- just let us know if you do and how much you're donating so we can make sure we receive the money.

Thank you!Nora-- " There's a lot of talk in this country about the federal deficit. But I think we should talk more about our empathy deficit - the ability to put ourselves in someone else's shoes; to see the world through those who are different from us - the child who's hungry, the laid-off steelworker, the immigrant woman cleaning your dorm room....
