Guest guest
Thanks for the link, Ajay. I checked out the menu. I'm a little bummed that Eric Tucker, after turning out awesome vegan dishes for years at Millennium, feels he must now cook for the dairy feeders. No matter how " humanely " you raise a cow, she is still being milked (and milked and milked) for humans rather than her own... I'll probably get flak for saying this (sigh). Bring it on. Guest guest
Hi all Donna, I hear your disappointment about having dairy served ... > I'm a little bummed that Eric Tucker, after turning out awesome vegan dishes for years at Millennium, feels he must now cook for the dairy feeders. However, regarding Eric Tucker - this was discussed a few years ago on the list, in context of folks who work at veg restaurants are not necessarily veg themselves (nor do they need to be) .... At least back in 2006, he was not veg although Eric Tucker said he eats mostly a vegan diet. If this info is still current, maybe that now explains the menu at his own restaurant. Guest guest
Hi Donna, I don't think Eric is quitting Millenium, so the vegan dishes will still be there. Secondly, instead of feeling bummed, we should celebrate the fact that a new vegetarian place has opened. Every time a veggie place shuts down, there is lots of hand-wringing all around and we lament the loss. Conversely, when a new veggie place opens up, we should celebrate the occasion and help it succeed. I visited the bar on Friday, and had the delicious vegan platter. It was out of this world, and I had a great time. I'm sure if lots of vegans visited Encuentro and asked for vegan options, they would listen and hopefully increase the vegan offerings. So lets work with them. Ajay --- On Sun, 12/6/09, Donna Ashizawa <govegan wrote: Donna Ashizawa <govegan Encuentro wine bar is now open Sunday, December 6, 2009, 7:55 PM Thanks for the link, Ajay. Guest guest
I am disappointed too that they offer cheese but at least they offer lots of vegan options and the restaurant is vegetarian.
