Guest guest
Hi all, my husband tried hard, and he finally got his mother to believe, or pretend to believe, that I get physically ill when she cooks meat in the house. Which brought her around to agreeing to separate storage and cooking utensils. I know she has no concept of how to prevent cross contamination, so I'm still concerned about the rest of the kitchen (sponges, sink, counter, cutting board, dripping on the floor [gotta stop - I feel queasy]). In the past she would wait until we finished eating, then make her own dinner. One the readers here posted something about a vegan shepherd's pie, which reminded me that she occasionally LIKED what I cooked and didn't make her own meal. SO, I would like to gather the best of SFBAVeg " convert a carnivore " recipes, especially things high in iron. Thank you all so much for your support! {{{{{{{{{{big hug}}}}}}}}}} - Rose p.s. I would *love* to put her in a hotel or have her go out for dinner. Unfortunately, she has limited mobility. The whole cooking in my kitchen issue only erupted recently, when her mobility became too limited for her to go out to dinner.
Guest guest
Here is a recipe I've found that carnivores like: I Can't Believe It's Not Cheese Sauce 3/4 cup water 6 tbsp tahini 2 tbsps nutritional yeast flakes 2 tbsps fresh lemon juice 2 tbsps chopped onions 2 tbsps sweet white miso 1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt Place all ingredients in a blender and process until creamy and smooth. You can put this sauce on anything. It's good warm or cold. I knew a Scottish person who loved cheese sauce over toast, so maybe your MIL would like it that way. I have also had a lot of success with dishes from Jennifer Raymond's Peaceful Palate, as well as food from Golden Lotus/Era or Flacos. None of my family is vegetarian, but they all love those. Guest guest
It's your home!!!!!! You should not allow her to cook meat there, even if she is housebound. If you're willing to have meat in the house, order in takeout.
